Old Brick Rental Policies
Old Brick Insurance Policy
Event Insurance is required for events and wedding receptions held at Old Brick. Policies may be obtained through your homeowners or renters insurance or online at wedsafe.com.
Old Brick requires $1 million coverage, with Old Brick Episcopal Corporation listed as a Named Insured.
A Certificate of Coverage is due to our office 30 days prior to the date of your event.
Old Brick Alcohol Policy
Alcohol may be served to those of legal age when served in a responsible manner. Old Brick requires the event contract holder to provide us with a Certificate of Insurance for liquor liability, with Old Brick listed as an additional insured. This coverage may be obtained through your homeowners insurance agent or online through a website such as www.wedsafe.com. (You can add the liquor liability to your event insurance). If you will be hiring a licensed caterer, they should have their own liquor liability insurance. Food and non-alcoholic beverages must also be provided when alcohol is served. There are no additional charges for up to 2 kegs. If your event will include more than 2 kegs there is a $50 per keg charge. Kegs must be set up in the bar area; not on the hardwood ballroom floor.
Old Brick Bar Options
Open Bar
A bar that offers free BEER and/or WINE ONLY (both alcoholic/non-alcoholic)
during your event.
- BEER & WINE ONLY: You may buy your own beer & wine and hire a bartender to
serve your drinks but you, the renter, assume all responsibility/liability from the
event. Additional insurance on top of the Old Brick Event Insurance may be required.
Cash Bar
A bar that offers BEER and/or WINE ONLY that guests will purchase.
- A cash bar requires: A licensed bartender with a class C catering license as well as a
permit from the City of Iowa City for the cash bar. The permit must be applied for by your caterer - typically at least 6 weeks in advance. Communication with your caterer/bartending company is very important for a cash bar.
Old Brick, a non-licensed event venue, is not responsible for the bars provided on the premises.
The event renter assumes all liability at their own events whether they choose to have alcohol or not.
Old Brick's mission is to enrich the community as a historic landmark, to serve the community as a gathering place, and to support the community as a home for Episcopal and benevolent non-profit groups.
